An unexpected opportunity has arisen for me to assume the role of Head of Transportation and Employment with my firm. I have accepted this position.
In light of the new responsibility, I am going to amend my plan to climb the 7 Summits. I will still climb them, and I will still do so to support the Parkinsons Foundation and the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.
However, I cannot now attempt this endeavor in one calendar year. Instead, I will endeavor to complete the climbs in 20 months. I will embark upon my journey earlier (November of this year- Kilimanjaro), and finish mid-2019 (Elbrus or Carstenz Pyramid).
It is only appropriate for me to make the following statement: If you desire that I provide your donation back to you, please email me and I will do so (firstname.lastname@example.org). You contributed to my campaign when I declared an intent to complete the endeavor within 12 months, not 20. As such, I have made a unilateral amendment to our agreement, which in my world permits an immediate return of your funds.
If you know me, you know that I don't make commitments without an intent to complete them, and I struggled with accepting this opportunity in light of that principle. I believe the 20 month objective is a reasonable compromise.
Climbing Above Parkinsons,
Anthony "Mic" McClaren
